What I have found from my experience is that when I REALLY like a guy, I play mind games with them. It's like a way of testing them to see just how much they like you. So for example if she treats you bad and you back off she will be saying to herself well he can't really like me or he would fight for me regardless. But if despite all these games she's playing with you, you still fight for her she will know that you are willing to do anything to keep her and that you could possibly be 'the one'. It's crazy but we do this sort of stuff. She might not even realise this is why she's playing games, I didn't it's only now on hindsight I have came to realise this.
She's not cold-hearted, she probably feels for you more than you know. This is her way of figuring out if the feelings mutual. Take it as a compliment.
